Combined Science tutors in Sharjah

Biology, Chemistry and Physics taught as one qualification, usually awarded as a double grade. It covers less depth than the three separate sciences but the same breadth of ideas, and it is the route most students who are not specialising take.

Combined Science in Sharjah: what usually goes wrong

Sharjah families frequently do something the school system does not account for: the student attends school in one emirate and lives in another, losing an hour or more each way. By the time they are home, an in-person tutor is not a realistic weekly arrangement. The curriculum mix here is also wider than in Dubai, which means the first question, which syllabus is this student actually entered for, matters more, and is answered wrongly more often.

The pattern repeats across schools, and it is rarely about ability. It is about the gap between understanding a topic and being able to perform it under the exact conditions the paper imposes. In Combined Science specifically, these are where the marks go:

  • Three subjects' worth of content revised as though it were one, with no separate strategy for each
  • Physics maths pulling the grade down while biology and chemistry are secure
  • Uncertainty about whether it permits progression to A Level sciences, which depends on the grade and the school
  • Practical skills assessed across all three disciplines and revised for none of them

Every one of those is trainable. None of them is fixed by covering the syllabus again more slowly, which is what most extra help amounts to.

Who this suits

Students who need a solid science grounding without three separate qualifications, and students whose school entered them for the combined route who are now considering separate sciences at A Level.

Which level is your child at?

Each level asks for something different, and preparation that ignores that difference wastes time. These pages set out what changes at each stage:

How lessons run

One-to-one, over video, with a shared whiteboard so tutor and student work on the same page at the same time. Sixty minutes is the default; twice weekly in the eight weeks before a paper.

Every session starts with marked work from the previous week, moves to the day's topic with a worked example, and ends with the student attempting a real past paper question live. After it, you get a written note from the tutor saying what was covered and what needs to happen next. The full process is here.

What it costs

USD 20-40 per 60-minute lesson, depending on level: the same rate wherever the student is, because the lesson is the same. Billed monthly against lessons actually taught, with no prepaid blocks and no minimum commitment. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.

Combined Science tutoring in Sharjah: common questions

Can my child take A Level sciences after Combined Science?

Often yes, but it depends on the grade and the school's own entry requirements. Some schools ask for separate sciences, others accept a strong double award. Ask the school directly rather than assuming either way.

How should Combined Science be revised?

As three subjects, not one. Score a past paper by discipline rather than in total: the combined grade almost always conceals one strand pulling the other two down, and that is where the work should go.

Is it easier than the separate sciences?

It covers less depth, but the breadth is similar and the practical skills across all three disciplines still have to be learned. It is less content, not less demanding per topic.

My child goes to school in Dubai but we live in Sharjah. Does that matter?

It matters a great deal for scheduling, and it is one of the most common situations we see. With an hour or more of commuting each way, an in-person tutor is rarely a commitment that survives the term. Online sessions start when your child is home rather than when they have finished travelling to someone.

Which curricula do you cover for Sharjah schools?

The curriculum mix here is wider than in Dubai, so establishing the exact syllabus your child is entered for is the first thing we do. We teach to Cambridge and other British-curriculum specifications and to the IB; if a student is on a syllabus we do not cover, we will say so rather than improvise.

What do lessons cost in Sharjah?

USD 20-40 per 60-minute lesson depending on level, billed monthly against lessons actually taught. We price in US dollars and charge the same rates everywhere we teach, because the lesson is identical wherever the student is. The full breakdown by level is on the pricing page, and there are no prepaid packages or registration fees.
