Levels we teach
Each stage asks for something different, and preparation that ignores the difference wastes time. These pages set out what actually changes, and which subjects we cover at each level.
IGCSE and GCSE
USD 20-28 per hour
The first qualifications that appear on a transcript, and the point at which most families first consider tutoring. Two years, usually eight to ten subjects, and a step up in independence that catches out students who coasted through Year 9.
AS and A Level
USD 28-34 per hour
Three or four subjects studied in real depth, and the grades universities actually offer against. The jump from IGCSE is larger than most students expect: questions stop testing one topic at a time and start combining several.
IB Diploma
USD 30-36 per hour
Six subjects plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. The workload is the defining feature, and the Internal Assessments, coursework worth a substantial share of each subject grade, are what most often slip.
University
USD 34-40 per hour
First-year modules move at several times school pace and assume prerequisites that are often shakier than students realise. Support here is usually about closing a specific gap quickly rather than working through a syllabus.
Which level is my child at?
Usually obvious from the year group, with one recurring exception: students taking Additional Mathematics alongside IGCSE are working at close to AS standard in that subject while still being Year 11 everywhere else. If the year group and the difficulty of the work seem to disagree, that mismatch is worth raising on the free trial class.
The more consequential question is usually which syllabus rather than which level: schools do not always publish the version they actually enter students for, and preparing for the wrong paper structure costs a term. How to find the code is here.
