German in Kuwait City: what usually goes wrong

Kuwait's international schools are among the longest-established in the Gulf, and the sector is stable rather than expanding. The consequence for families is less about school quality and more about choice: cohorts are large, subject options at sixth form are set by what the timetable can support, and a student who needs depth in something outside the core offering has limited local routes to it. The pattern repeats across schools, and it is rarely about ability. It is about the gap between understanding a topic and being able to perform it under the exact conditions the paper imposes. In German specifically, these are where the marks go:

• The case system half-learned, so adjective endings and articles are guessed

• Separable verbs and modal constructions avoided in writing, which limits the range that earns marks

How lessons run

One-to-one, over video, with a shared whiteboard so tutor and student work on the same page at the same time. Sixty minutes is the default; twice weekly in the eight weeks before a paper.

Every session starts with marked work from the previous week, moves to the day's topic with a worked example, and ends with the student attempting a real past paper question live.
