German in Abu Dhabi: what usually goes wrong
Abu Dhabi families often have a structural disadvantage that has nothing to do with the schools: the city is spread out, after-school traffic is real, and a tutor who would take ninety minutes to reach is not a weekly commitment anybody keeps. That is a large part of why online works better here than the alternative. The academic pattern is familiar, capable students who have never been shown what a mark scheme rewards, but the logistics make the delivery method matter more than usual.
The pattern repeats across schools, and it is rarely about ability. It is about the gap between understanding a topic and being able to perform it under the exact conditions the paper imposes. In German specifically, these are where the marks go:

How lessons run
One-to-one, over video, with a shared whiteboard so tutor and student work on the same page at the same time. Sixty minutes is the default; twice weekly in the eight weeks before a paper.
Every session starts with marked work from the previous week, moves to the day's topic with a worked example, and ends with the student attempting a real past paper question live. Why do cases cause so much trouble?
Because they affect articles, adjectives and pronouns simultaneously, so a partial understanding produces errors in every sentence. German rewards learning the case system properly as a system: once it is secure, a great deal of the rest follows.
What limits marks for range?
Avoidance. Students who steer around separable verbs, subordinate clauses and modal constructions write accurate but simple German, which caps the range marks. Deliberately practising the harder structures is what lifts the grade.
Is German harder than French or Spanish?
It is more systematic, which makes it harder at the start and easier later. The grammar is unforgiving but consistent, so students who invest early often overtake peers who chose a language that felt easier initially.
What time do lessons run for students in Abu Dhabi?
Weekday evenings between roughly 4pm and 9pm Gulf Standard Time, which fits around a school day that usually ends between 2pm and 3:30pm. Because the city is spread out, online removes the travel that makes an in-person weekly slot so hard to keep.
Do you cover the IB Diploma as well as A Level?
Yes, and Abu Dhabi has a substantial IB sector. The Diploma needs a different kind of support from A Level: Internal Assessments and the Extended Essay are deadline-driven coursework worth a large share of the grade, and they are what most often slips.
