A subject with its own method: identify the issue, state the rule with authority, apply it to the facts, conclude. Students who know the law well and cannot apply it in that structure lose marks consistently.

Law in Jeddah: what usually goes wrong
Jeddah has an older and more settled international school sector than Riyadh, which changes the nature of the problem rather than removing it. Schools here are less likely to be understaffed and more likely to be large, and in a large cohort a student who is quietly a grade below target is easy to miss until the mocks. The Sunday-to-Thursday week applies here too and needs building into any lesson schedule.
The pattern repeats across schools, and it is rarely about ability. It is about the gap between understanding a topic and being able to perform it under the exact conditions the paper imposes. In Law specifically, these are where the marks go:
- Problem questions answered by reciting law rather than applying it to the specific facts given
- Cases cited without the principle they establish, which is the part that earns credit
- Statute and case law treated interchangeably instead of as a hierarchy of authority
- Essay questions answered descriptively where critical evaluation of the law was required
Every one of those is trainable. None of them is fixed by covering the syllabus again more slowly, which is what most extra help amounts to.
Who this suits
Undergraduates in law, and A Level or IB students taking law or legal-studies options who need the analytical structure made explicit. It suits students who can separate what they think ought to be the case from what the law actually says, which is harder than it sounds.
Which level is your child at?
Each level asks for something different, and preparation that ignores that difference wastes time. These pages set out what changes at each stage:
How lessons run
One-to-one, over video, with a shared whiteboard so tutor and student work on the same page at the same time. Sixty minutes is the default; twice weekly in the eight weeks before a paper.
Every session starts with marked work from the previous week, moves to the day's topic with a worked example, and ends with the student attempting a real past paper question live. After it, you get a written note from the tutor saying what was covered and what needs to happen next. The full process is here.
What it costs
USD 20-40 per 60-minute lesson, depending on level: the same rate wherever the student is, because the lesson is the same. Billed monthly against lessons actually taught, with no prepaid blocks and no minimum commitment. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
Law tutoring in Jeddah: common questions
What is the right way to answer a problem question?
Identify the legal issue, state the rule with its authority, apply it to the specific facts given, then conclude. Students who know the law well but write it as an essay lose marks consistently: the structure is not a presentational preference, it is what is being assessed.
How should cases be learned?
By the principle they establish, not the story. Citing a case name without stating what it decided earns nothing, and the facts matter only where they are what makes the principle apply.
Is A Level Law needed to study Law at university?
Almost never, and some universities are indifferent to it. It is useful preparation for how legal reasoning works, but it is not usually a requirement: check the specific courses on your list.
My child is in a large cohort and seems to be slipping quietly. Is that common?
Very. Jeddah's international schools are well established and often large, and in a big cohort a student who is a grade below target is genuinely easy to miss until the mocks. That is usually what brings families to us, and the first useful step is a marked past paper rather than more revision.
What time do lessons run?
Evenings in Arabia Standard Time, UTC+3, Sunday to Thursday, with weekend mornings on Friday and Saturday available before exam series.
Do you help with coursework deadlines as well as exams?
Yes, and they are frequently the more urgent problem. IB Internal Assessments and A Level coursework carry a substantial share of the grade and run on deadlines that arrive well before the written papers, which is exactly why they get deprioritised.
